Brunch and the other meals

Elizabeth's
This one requires an uber, but it is worth the quick ride into the Bywater neighborhood (creatively named because it is located by the water). I recommend the bloody mary, shrimp and grits, and praline bacon. Be sure to invite me!
-
Willa Jean
This one is walkable, but you should wear comfortable shoes for the journey. Check out the “Biscuit Situation” and try the fried chicken +tabasco honey biscuit. I never claimed this list would help with the waistline, but walking to get your biscuit is better than riding!

Chapter IV
Maybe you’ve enjoyed BBQ Shrimp before, but if you haven’t had these BBQ Shrimp, you haven’t lived. This is an establishment by a member of the famous Leah Chase family. I’ll put their food up against anyone’s in town.
-
Parkway Bakery and Tavern
Parkway is a New Orleans institution. A roast beef poboy is a favorite, but the fried shrimp poboy gives it a run for its money. Can’t decide? Grab a poboy that includes both. Enjoy!
-
Audubon Clubhouse
This is a Dickie Brennan restaurant located at New Orleans’ City Park. You can get there by car or streetcar, and it is worth the short ride. I recommend eating lunch on the back porch overlooking the golf course and New Orleans’ signature oak trees.
-
Meril
This is one of Emeril Lagasse’s restaurants and it is one of my favorite spots in downtown New Orleans. You really can’t go wrong here. And sometimes you’ll even catch a glimpse of Emeril himself in the kitchen. Pineapple upside-down cornbread for the win!
-
Shaya
If you like fresh, homemade pita and specialty hummus, you should ride uptown and check out Shaya. Never had a bad experience here. Order some lamb ragu hummus to go and bring it back to me!

Walkable Lagniappe
Luke, Peche, Copper Vine, Mr B’s, and Chemin a la Mer are all excellent restaurants you can easily get to by foot. When in doubt, choose a gulf seafood dish!
